Mission of Hector Good Neighbor (HGN) & FLX Against Azalea Wind (FLAAW)

We are a neighborhood group that opposes the Azalea Wind Project, proposed for the Towns of Hector and Catherine in the Finger Lakes Region of NY, and is working to keep large-scale projects that are neither community-based nor beneficial to the earth and people out of our neighborhood. Instead, we want to help our entire community thrive in security, wealth, peace, and mutual benefit.

The purpose of this site is to provide basic information about the proposed Azalea Wind Project, help neighbors know their rights and risks of signing documents with Azalea, provide resources to learn more, and how to get involved to stop the project. We are gathering and learning information as quickly as we can and disseminating facts and concerns to the neighborhood through word of mouth, social media, media, and flyers. However, our community and its members are victims of procedural injustice. While we only heard about the Azalea proposal in August 2026, this vast project is more than two years in the making. Public records indicate a significant number of leases were signed with Azalea in December of 2025, 60 by a Hector Town Board Member. Much of the content in the public documents on NYDPS has been redacted.

If there is uncertainty in the information contained on this site (for example, the location, exact height, and number of turbines), it's because it has not been shared with the public. If you have information about the proposed project that is missing from this site, please get in touch with us.

HGN is a 100% volunteer-run community group.
